Forestone started in late 2007 with a group of people anxious to develop a better reed and release players from all known problems with cane and poor sounding plastic reeds.

The former manager of Japan’s biggest woodwind distributor Kawai Kazunori came up with a special material formula - half bamboo and half PP which was the perfect combination of wooden sound while being perfectly consistent when manufactured by injection molding.

In 2010 all preparations for Forestone Reeds were complete and company founder Lars Heuseler launched the new product globally, quickly becoming a leader among synthetic and cane reed brands.

In 2012 Forestone joined with master Japanese instrument builders who were looking for a new challenge. Their decades of experience partnered with the a vision to make a Japanese saxophone with a different sound profile to what was already available enabled them to create a unique new range of saxophones.  The result is a truely inspiring instrument, blending Japanese craftsmanship with American concept of sound.

Forestone has grown quickly since 2012 establishing worldwide distribution and acclaim. By 2020 they had out grown out of their showroom and moved into a new display centre in Osaka.

Forestone continues to develop new models and push the boundaries of sound, experimenting with materials, bore size and rare metals.  They are one of the few brands where the master Japanese technician builds every RX and SX model sax himself. It’s not a random factory person who sets up the horn. Atsushi stands with his name on every single horn (engraved on the body) thus customers can be sure that every single horn is set at up at the highest level.

As a result Forestone is building the finest Japanese saxophones today and taking responsibility for every single horn.
